GA Bill to Ban Gas Chamber Shelters

Georgia House Representative Tom Knox introduced "Grace's Bill" on Thursday and it was assigned "HB 606" (House Bill 606). This is our bill to outlaw the 15 remaining gas chambers in Georgia shelters.

We expect Senator Henson to drop a "companion" bill in the State Senate next week. That bill will be assigned an "SB" number.

Time is wasting... we have to act FAST! The so-called "crossover" date is March 12th. If HB 606 doesn't make it out of the House Committee on Agriculture (the committee that decides whether the bill moves to the full House for a vote) and pass a vote of the full House, it will die. The bill has to crossover to the Senate by the 12th!

So start today WRITING TO YOUR STATE SENATOR AND YOUR HOUSE REPRESENTATIVE. ...and asking your friends, family members and co-workers to do the same.

Please also ask your veterinarian to write to his/her state senator and house representative. ...and to the members of the House Committee on Agriculture, of which our primary opponent, Dr. Gene Maddox, a veterinarian, is a member and officer. If many of our state lawmakers hear from their veterinarian constituents in favor of this bill, they will not defer to Dr. Gene Maddox's opinion that gas chambers are ok. They are not ok! Dogs and cats suffer and struggle for up to 45 minutes in these torture chambers.

Then you'll see, under "Governor and State Legislators, " under Sonny Perdue's name, the names of your Senator ("Senate") and your House Representative ("House of Representatives" ). That's it, so easy! Don't forget these names!

[Ignore the names on the left under "President and Congress".. those are your Federal lawmakers]. You want State!

Start now! If all 300+ Senators and Representatives hear from their constituents that we want House Bill 606 passed, they will vote YES! Remember that most of them have no idea that gas chambers are still (or ever were) operating in Georgia's shelters.
